Senator Buba Umar Challenges DSS Over Terrorism Allegations

On September 15, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, publicly challenged the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force, and Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) to investigate allegations linking him to banditry, terrorism financing, and other violent crimes. He declared his willingness to be prosecuted if found guilty, emphasizing that he has voluntarily submitted himself to these agencies for a thorough investigation.

Buba stated that his decision aims to eliminate political speculation surrounding the allegations, asserting that such serious claims should be investigated by the appropriate authorities. Through his legal team, led by Chief Yakubu Maikyau, former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), he expressed confidence in the investigation process.

He also urged anyone with evidence against him to present it and stated that if the allegations are proven baseless, those responsible for spreading them should face legal consequences.
