Adeleke Wins Osun Governorship Election by 66,252 Votes

The Osun State governorship election took place on August 15, 2026, with incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party emerging victorious. Adeleke secured 511,067 votes, defeating his closest rival, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 444,815 votes, resulting in a winning margin of 66,252 votes.

The election featured a total of fifteen candidates, but the contest was primarily between Adeleke, Oyebamiji, and Dr. Najeem Salam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who finished third with 17,180 votes. Adeleke won in 19 out of the 30 Local Government Areas in Osun State, while Oyebamiji won in 11.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) oversaw the election, which was characterized by significant voter turnout and engagement, as citizens actively defended their votes to ensure they counted.
