Tinubu Nominates Joseph Tegbe as New Power Minister

President Bola Tinubu has nominated Joseph Tegbe as the new Minister of Power, subject to Senate confirmation, following the resignation of former Minister Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue a governorship ambition in Oyo State. Tegbe, an indigene of Oyo State, is recognized as a fiscal and economic reform expert with 35 years of experience in both public and private sectors.

He previously served as a senior partner and head of advisory services at KPMG Africa and has been involved in fiscal policy reform and government restructuring. His nomination is part of a broader strategy to stabilize the Nigerian power sector, improve efficiency, and attract long-term investments in the electricity value chain.

The presidential statement indicated that Tegbe's expertise would be crucial in advancing critical reforms and enhancing the regulatory framework, particularly concerning the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission and the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company. Bayo Onanuga, the presidential special adviser, communicated these developments in a press release issued on Wednesday.
