Data Scientist Unveils Facial Recognition for Missing Kids

Oluwaferanmi Ebo, a data scientist and winner of the Isola showcase, presented a facial recognition system designed to assist in the identification and reunification of missing children in Nigeria. This demonstration comes amid increasing concerns regarding the rising cases of missing and abducted children, prompting renewed discussions on how technology can enhance existing search and identification processes.

The project illustrates the application of machine learning to compare photographs against registered records to identify possible matches. Ebo emphasized that data science is not limited to commercial applications but can directly address pressing community issues.
