Kamaru Usman Ends UFC Losing Streak with Win Over Buckley

On June 15, Kamaru Usman ended his losing streak in the UFC by achieving a unanimous decision victory over Joaquin Buckley at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. The judges scored the fight 49-46, 49-46, and 48-47 in favor of Usman, who had not won since 2021.

The 38-year-old former champion, known as the "Nigerian Nightmare," was eager to bounce back after suffering four consecutive losses over the past four years. Usman, who held a record of 20 wins and 4 losses, utilized a wrestling approach throughout the five-round fight, nearly finishing Buckley in the first round.

Despite Buckley finding his rhythm in the second round, Usman regained control in the third round with successful takedowns and significant strikes. The fight marked Usman's return to the octagon after a 20-month absence, during which he lost to Khamzat Chimaev on October 10, 2023.

Nigerian musician Davido, also known as David Adeleke, attended the fight and expressed pride in Usman's performance.
