Davido Calls Out INEC Over Slow IReV Upload in Osun Election

Afrobeats star David Adeleke questioned delays in posting Osun governorship results to INEC's online portal on Saturday, calling for faster transparency.

Afrobeats musician David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has publicly challenged the Independent National Electoral Commission over the pace at which results from Saturday's Osun State governorship election were being posted to the IReV—INEC's official results viewing system. The singer took to social media to flag the issue, noting that by early afternoon no results had yet appeared on the portal.

In posts on his X account, Davido pressed INEC to move faster and supply voters with real-time information about the election. He stated that Nigerians had a right to prompt and clear reporting of results.

The musician did not announce a specific time at which results should have been uploaded, but his posts indicated frustration with what he saw as unexplained delays. Beyond criticizing the delay itself, Davido issued practical guidance to voters still present at their polling units.

He advised them to wait until their individual results were loaded into the IReV system and to verify that the numbers recorded on the official result form—the electronic EC8A—matched what voters had witnessed during the counting process. He also encouraged voters to make their own records of results as a safeguard.

The calls for faster uploads and better transparency align with broader voter interest in real-time election monitoring across Nigeria. IReV, launched to allow public scrutiny of results as they are submitted by polling units, is designed to enable voters and observers to track tallies throughout the counting phase.

Davido's intervention adds pressure on INEC to maintain consistent posting schedules during election day operations.
