Army Chief Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu Receives Distinguished Award

The National Defence College awarded the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu, the Distinguished Alumnus Star Award on Friday during the graduation ceremony of National Defence College Course 34 in Abuja. This award recognizes Shaibu's contributions to strategic military leadership, professional military education, and national security.

The Nigerian Army announced the honor via its official X account. The ceremony was attended by President Bola Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The event underscored the Federal Government's commitment to developing strategic leaders and enhancing professionalism within Nigeria's defense and security framework. Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu has previously served at the National Defence College as a Directing Staff and later as Director Coordination, contributing significantly to the development of strategic thinking and leadership among senior military officers and national security practitioners.

The Distinguished Alumnus Star Award acknowledges his efforts towards building a professional, adaptable, combat-ready, and resilient Nigerian Army.
