Defence Minister Affirms Commitment to Maritime Security

On a significant occasion marking the 70th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy, Minister of Defence Christoph Musa reaffirmed the federal government's commitment to strengthening maritime security and advancing Nigeria's blue economy. He pledged continued investment in resources and capabilities to build technologically advanced naval forces capable of safeguarding Nigeria's maritime interests in regional waters.

During the event, which included a sunset dinner award night, Musa stressed the importance of adopting modern technology to address emerging security threats, noting that future naval operations will rely on advanced surveillance systems and intelligence capabilities. He acknowledged the Nigerian Navy's role in combating piracy, crude oil theft, and other maritime crimes, highlighting its contributions to economic development and the protection of strategic sea lanes and offshore oil and gas infrastructure.

The Minister commended the Navy's achievements over the past 70 years and recognized the contributions of international partners to maritime security and stability.
