Isaac Del Toro Wins First Stage of UAE Tour 2023

Isaac Del Toro, a 22-year-old Mexican cyclist, achieved victory in the first stage of the UAE Tour, which was shortened from 144km to 118km due to high winds. Del Toro, who finished second in last year's Giro d'Italia, showcased his sprinting strength by outpacing Dutch cyclist Cee Bol and Italian Antonio Tiberi at the finish line.

He expressed his excitement, stating he did not want to miss the opportunity. Jonathan Milan, another competitor, faced a heavy crash near a roundabout 1,500m from the finish.

Del Toro rides for UAE Team Emirates, hoping to follow in the footsteps of teammate Tadej Pogacar, who won the race last year. The main challengers for the title include Belgian star Remco Evenepoel and two-time Tour de France champion Jonas Vingegaard, who pulled ahead in the first stage due to a recent crash.

The second stage is a 12km time trial scheduled for Tuesday.
