Atoyebi Urges Tinubu to Decentralize Government Authority

Hon. Bamidele Atoyebi, the Convener of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ideological Group, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to enforce a structured delegation of authority across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in Nigeria. Atoyebi emphasized the need for a direct communication channel for citizens to express their concerns and ideas to the Presidency.

He criticized the excessive centralization of decision-making and the prolonged absence of political appointees without proper handover, which he argued leads to operational paralysis in government. Atoyebi noted that many political appointees have concentrated authority within their domains, undermining the President's decentralization efforts.

He pointed out that essential government functions often halt when senior officials are unavailable, as critical approvals depend solely on their signatures. Additionally, Atoyebi raised concerns about the growing inaccessibility of political appointees, making it difficult for citizens and professionals to engage with senior government officials.
