Delta Entrepreneur Advocates Skill Acquisition for Women

Mrs. Sophia Otemabor Lawrence, a prominent entrepreneur and founder of Sophie’s Treat Trove, addressed unemployed young women in the Niger Delta region, advocating for vocational skills and entrepreneurship as sustainable avenues for financial independence and personal growth. This advice was shared during an interactive session held in Ughelli, Delta State, where Lawrence expressed concern over the rising number of young women relying solely on men for survival.

She emphasized the importance of self-reliance and economic empowerment for women, stating that financially independent women can better support their families and contribute to stable homes. Lawrence shared her personal journey from humble beginnings and discouraged young women from pursuing shortcuts like prostitution, which she labeled as a temporary solution with detrimental long-term effects.

She encouraged those lacking formal education to acquire vocational skills such as hairdressing, fashion designing, baking, makeup artistry, and event decoration, while urging them to focus on self-development and entrepreneurship.
