Delta Police Recover Guns, Arrest Five in Crime Crackdown

The Delta State Police Command has intensified efforts against violent crime, resulting in the recovery of three pump-action guns and the arrest of five suspects in various operations. Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the command's dedication to professionalism and intelligence-led policing during a strategic lecture on July 27, 2026.

One operation led to the arrest of Joseph Tyavzua, who was found with a pump-action gun while traveling on a commercial motorcycle along the Asaba-Onitsha Expressway. Tyavzua claimed to be part of a local vigilante group but could not provide legal authorization for the firearm.

In another operation, detectives from Ekpan Division arrested Edodo Gift and Emoefe Solomon, who confessed to robbing a commercial motorcycle rider. They led police to two receivers of stolen property, Fodio Bello and Kabiru Mohammed, resulting in the recovery of two additional pump-action guns and three stolen motorcycles.

All suspects are in custody as investigations continue.
