Delta Police Arrest Five, Recover Guns and Motorcycles

The Delta State Police Command has arrested five suspects and recovered three suspected stolen motorcycles and three pump-action guns in ongoing operations against violent crime in the state. SP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the command, provided details in a statement to journalists in Warri on Monday.

On July 27, 2026, operatives from 'C' Division in Asaba intercepted and arrested Joseph Tyavzua along the Asaba–Onitsha Expressway during a stop-and-search operation. Tyavzua was found in possession of a pump-action gun while attempting to enter Onitsha on a commercial motorcycle.

He claimed to be a member of a vigilante group but could not provide lawful authority for possessing the firearm. The gun was recovered, and Tyavzua remains in custody as investigations continue.
