Woman in Hijab Abducts 3-Year-Old in Delta State

On March 7, 2026, in Ogwashi Uku, Delta State, a 33-year-old suya seller named Abubakar Isiaka Mondai reported the abduction of his 3-year-old daughter, Sheripha. The incident occurred in broad daylight during a burial ceremony when a woman dressed in a hijab approached the family.

Speaking in Hausa, the woman, known within the Hausa quarter, asked Mondai's wife to show her the house of the young girl. The unsuspecting wife complied, allowing the woman to lure Sheripha away by giving her N200 and biscuits.

When the elder sister returned with the biscuits, the woman had already left with the younger girl. Following the abduction, the family raised an alarm, and the community, including the Sariki and local police, mobilized efforts to locate Sheripha.

Mondai urged the police and government for assistance in ensuring the safe return of his daughter.
