Lawyer Criticizes Makinde Over Demolition of Kidnappers' Den

Sodeeq Aderogba, an Ibadan-based lawyer, condemned the Oyo State Government's demolition of a property used as a hideout by kidnappers, which occurred following the rescue of Adebayo Adelabu's sister and twin. Aderogba described the demolition as an "executive rascality" and an illegal decision made by Governor Seyi Makinde.

He referenced a 2016 law signed by former Governor Abiola Ajimobi that prohibits the demolition of properties without a court order, emphasizing that any property belonging to a convicted individual should be handled legally. Aderogba insisted that the government should provide the public with the landlord's identity and maintain that the demolition sets a bad precedent.

He criticized the lack of a valid court order for the demolition and argued that the evidence against suspects should be gathered properly rather than resorting to demolitions. Aderogba's statements were made in response to the demolition of the property located on Lakoun Estate, Olomi Olojuoro Road, in the Oluyole Local Government Area.
