Deposed Monarch Seeks Correction of Ruling House Name

Oba Samuel Olatunji Kalejaiye, the deposed monarch of Iray Town in Ogun State, is calling on the Ogun State Government to correct an alleged error in the name of the ruling house from "Sugbada" to "Sugbodo." This request stems from a 1959 registration that Kalejaiye claims inaccurately reflects the royal lineage of Iray Town. He insists that "Sugbada" does not exist as a royal lineage and that the official declaration needs to be amended to prevent further confusion in the selection process for future monarchs.

Kalejaiye's lawyer, Princ Dipo Ilara, indicated that the error has caused ongoing tension within the community and undermines the integrity of the chieftaincy system. Despite repeated representations to the relevant authorities over the years, no formal amendments have been made.

The lawyer emphasized the importance of rectifying this issue to maintain unity and stability in Iray Town and to preserve the authenticity of the ruling houses.
