ONSA and DECAN Collaborate for Responsible Reporting

The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and the Defence Correspondents Association of Nigeria (DECAN) have entered a partnership to promote responsible reporting on national security issues. This collaboration was formalized during a visit by DECAN leadership to ONSA in Abuja, where Odita Sundai, DECAN President, and Musa Umar Bologi, General Secretary, reaffirmed their commitment to support the Office of the National Security Adviser.

Dr. Chido Onumah, the Special Adviser on Strategic Communication to the National Security Adviser, emphasized the importance of accurate and balanced reporting, calling for greater access to official activities and specialized training for defense correspondents.

The partnership also includes plans to establish a dedicated media center to facilitate interaction between journalists and ONSA officials. This initiative aims to improve the quality of reporting on national security matters and enhance public understanding of these issues.

The collaboration is part of DECAN's ongoing efforts to enrich public discourse on defense and security.
