Troops Neutralize 662 Terrorists, Launch Emergency Line

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) of Nigeria unveiled a toll-free emergency line, 193, to encourage public reporting of security threats. Major General Micheal Onoja disclosed that Nigerian troops neutralized 662 terrorists during the second quarter of 2026, with significant operational successes recorded from April to June.

The Armed Forces also arrested 1,084 criminal elements, rescued 951 kidnapped civilians, and recovered 328 arms and 12,590 rounds of ammunition. In June alone, troops neutralized 129 terrorists, arrested 486 suspects, and rescued 542 civilians.

Notable achievements included a multi-axis rescue operation in Mandara Mountain, Borno State, and the dismantling of insurgent logistics networks. The military emphasized adherence to international humanitarian law while conducting operations.

High-profile arrests included individuals linked to terrorist activities and kidnappings across various states, including Kwara, Niger, Kogi, and Oyo.
