Two Jailed for Violent Burglary of Donnarumma in Paris

On September 11, 2023, the Paris Criminal Court sentenced Ilyas Kherbouch, 21, to nine years in prison and an €80,000 fine for his role as the mastermind in the violent burglary of Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and his pregnant partner, Alessia Elefante. Co-defendant Moktar D. was sentenced to five years, with two years suspended subject to probation.

A third defendant, Khyan M., 22, was acquitted. The robbery occurred in July 2023 while Donnarumma was playing for Paris Saint-Germain.

The couple was attacked in their luxury ninth-floor apartment on Avenue Montaigne by four masked men. Donnarumma was beaten, and Elefante was choked as the assailants demanded valuables, escaping with items worth nearly €1 million.

The trauma from the attack led to Elefante suffering a miscarriage. Prosecutors described the crime as “highly lucrative” and “extremely violent,” seeking prison terms of four to ten years for the defendants.
