Kwara Monarch Oba Iwedunmoye I Dies After Kidnapping

Oba Moses Oyinloye Iwedunmoye I, the Onigbesi of Igbesi Land, passed away shortly after regaining his freedom from kidnappers in Isin Local Government Area, Kwara State. He was abducted on August 22 when armed men invaded the Igbesi community and was released five days later during a security operation in the Elerin/Ijomu-Oro area.

His death was announced on Saturday by Bisi Fakayode, the National President of Omo Ibile Igbomina, who expressed sadness and prayed for the monarch's soul. Prince Olasunkanmi, one of the monarch's sons, confirmed that his father died in a hospital early Saturday morning after a brief illness following his release.

The Kwara State Police Command had conducted an operation based on a report from a vigilante, leading to the rescue of three kidnapped victims, including the monarch. The operation involved a combined team of police operatives, military personnel, and vigilantes, resulting in an exchange of gunfire with suspected kidnappers.
