Nigerian Military Air Strikes Kill 18 Terrorists in Borno

On 11 September 2026, the Air Component of Joint Task Force North-East, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), conducted an air interdiction operation in Borno State, specifically targeting terrorist enclaves at Tumbunma Baba. The operation, coordinated with ground troops of Sector 1 OPHK, resulted in the destruction of identified terrorist structures and the neutralization of more than 18 terrorist elements.

According to Captain Mohammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer of OPHK, the operation was based on credible intelligence gathered over several weeks, which indicated the presence of high-profile terrorists at key logistics nodes. The intelligence was validated through surveillance and confirmatory intelligence, leading to the successful air strikes that achieved an estimated 85% success rate in operational objectives.

Captain Goni emphasized the importance of intelligence-led operations and encouraged public vigilance to support ongoing efforts against terrorism in the North-East Theatre.
