LASU Law Clinic Renovated to Honor Justice Oguntade

The Lagos State University (LASU) Law Clinic has been significantly renovated through the efforts of philanthropists in honor of retired Supreme Court Justice George Adesola Oguntade. The initiative, led by Olugbenga Ajala and supported by friends and associates, aimed to create a conducive environment for practical legal education.

Afolakemi Ogunde, speaking for the donors, noted that the clinic's previous facilities were outdated and non-functional, prompting a comprehensive rehabilitation. The renovation focused on enhancing functionality, clinical learning, practical simulations, and professional skills development.

Emmanuel Sewanu, the 40th President of the LASU Law Students’ Society, stated that the renovated clinic would allow senior law students to establish Students’ Chambers and develop advocacy skills under supervision. Mariam Rasheed, a 400-level student, praised the improvements, highlighting enhanced seating, ventilation, and facilities for learning and advocacy training.

The facility was dedicated to George Oguntade, who served as LASU Chancellor in 2015.
