Osun State Warns Police Against APC Vehicle Donations

The Osun State government has issued a warning to the Nigeria Police Force, advising them not to accept vehicle donations from local government chairmen elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC). The government, led by Governor Ademola Adeleke, argues that these chairmen lack a valid mandate and are currently involved in ongoing litigation regarding their tenure.

The government characterized the proposed donation of operational vehicles as a "poison gift" with malicious intent, urging the police to reject such gestures to safeguard their integrity and reputation. The statement, signed by the state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kola Alimi, emphasized the need for the police to remain neutral and avoid actions that could compromise their credibility.

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has been called upon to intervene and direct the Osun State command to reject these vehicles pending the outcome of court rulings on the legitimacy of the local government chairmen's positions.
