Kwara CP Adekimi Warns Against Indiscriminate Phone Searches

On a working visit to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Kwara State for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course, Commissioner of Police Ojo Adekimi cautioned police officers against indiscriminately searching the mobile phones of corps members under the pretext of investigating internet fraud. Adekimi emphasized the importance of treating corps members with dignity and respect, stating that no officer should conduct such searches without proper cause.

He assured the corps members of adequate security throughout their service year and encouraged them to embrace their new environment confidently. The police commissioner, supported by Police Public Relations Officer Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, reiterated the need for corps members to contribute positively to their communities and use social media responsibly.

He urged them to report any inappropriate conduct by police personnel or security concerns through designated channels. The visit was also attended by NYSC State Coordinator Musa Kafarda, who praised the police for their commitment to the safety and welfare of the corps members.
