Peter Obi Slams ECOWAS Over Guinea-Bissau Coup Response

Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections, accused the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) of double standards in handling the military coup in Guinea-Bissau. Obi condemned ECOWAS for quick condemnation of the coup while remaining silent on reported technological glitches during the election process.

He made these remarks upon arriving in Abuja after attending a meeting with the European Parliament. Former President Goodluck Jonathan, who monitored the Guinea-Bissau elections, also noted suspicions surrounding the coup announcement.
