Teenager Drives SUV into Edo River, Resists Rescue Efforts

In Edo State, a teenager identified as Osaze drove a Mercedes Benz GLK valued at N22 million into the Ikpoba Hill river in Benin City. The incident occurred on a Thursday near a car wash, shortly after the vehicle was cleaned.

Witnesses reported that the driver suddenly accelerated into the river, prompting local residents to attempt a rescue. Despite their efforts, Osaze reportedly resisted leaving the submerged vehicle, creating a bewildering scene.

A viral video captured the incident, showing the driver inside the car and refusing to exit. He later claimed that financial pressure from family and friends led him to take such drastic action, although this claim has not been independently verified.
