FRSC Corps Marshal Condemns Assault on Personnel in Edo

On April 11, 2026, a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) patrol team in Edo State was assaulted after flagging down a vehicle for a seat belt violation. The driver fled, prompting the FRSC to engage in enforcement, during which a group of commercial tricycle operators violently attacked the officers.

The team leader sustained injuries in the incident. Following the assault, the suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended through a collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS).

The suspect confessed to the crime and expressed remorse for his actions. Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed emphasized that assaults on law enforcement officers are serious criminal offenses that will attract the full weight of the law.

He urged the public to cooperate with FRSC personnel and utilize established complaint channels instead of resorting to violence. The injured officer is currently in stable condition and receiving medical care.
