Sowore Proposes Drone as Nigeria's Defence Minister

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, announced during a live interview on Arise TV that he would appoint a drone as Nigeria's Minister of Defence if elected president. This statement was made on Thursday, with Sowore asserting that Nigeria's security crisis necessitates an urgent technological overhaul.

He argued that the country requires honest leadership to tackle military challenges effectively. Sowore criticized the current military command for its unwillingness to leave Abuja and engage in actual combat.

He called for a refocusing of the police force on its core mandate of internal security rather than merely escorting people or making arrests. Sowore described his vision for a command and control security architecture centered around drones and artificial intelligence, suggesting that these technologies could be used to track terrorists.

He acknowledged that technology alone would not resolve insecurity, emphasizing the importance of addressing the socio-economic conditions that lead young people toward militancy.
