Jigawa Community Holds Prayer for Rain Amid Drought

In Basirka town, Jigawa State, residents organized a three-day special prayer for rain, starting on Saturday and concluding on Monday, due to a prolonged dry spell that has severely affected local farmlands. The prayer, known as Salatul Istisqa, was held at the Eid ground in Gwaram Local Government Area, where hundreds gathered to seek divine intervention.

Chief Imam Sheikh Sanunu Basirka led the prayer and emphasized the importance of repentance and seeking forgiveness from Allah. He noted that the lack of rain was a test from God and urged the community to intensify their prayers and charitable acts.

Many farmers, including 65-year-old Ibrahim Musa Dankoli, expressed their distress over the drying crops, stating they had not experienced adequate rainfall for weeks. The prayer session was attended by various community members, including farmers, clerics, and youths, all united in their supplications for rain to restore their livelihoods.
