Heavy Rainfall in Jigawa Claims Lives of Two Children

Heavy rainfall in Gandun Sarki, located in the Malam Madori Local Government Area of Jigawa State, caused significant destruction, including the collapse of a house that trapped two sleeping children, aged five and eight, leading to their deaths. Their father, Malam Samaila, reported that the incident occurred while the children were asleep.

In addition to the fatalities, several women affected by the disaster were taken to Hadejia General Hospital for medical treatment. Reports indicated that more than 20 houses collapsed, with many others suffering from flooding due to the downpour.

One victim, Sani Abubakar, whose house was completely destroyed, called on the Jigawa State Government for urgent assistance for the affected residents. The village head, Malam Jamilu Bulama, stated that he had instructed his aides to compile a list of all those impacted to help authorities assess the damage.
