PSC Confirms No Drug Users Will Be Recruited into Police

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has reaffirmed its commitment to not recruit individuals who use drugs into the Nigerian police force. During a press conference in Abuja, PSC Chairman Taiwo Lakanu disclosed that the recruitment of 50,000 police constables will involve comprehensive drug testing and rigorous screening procedures to ensure candidates are medically fit and possess good character.

The PSC aims to strengthen discipline, enhance public confidence, and improve operational efficiency within the force. The commission will collaborate with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to conduct detailed drug integrity tests, ensuring that only candidates with proven integrity are admitted.

Lakanu emphasized a zero-tolerance approach to malpractice and introduced a whistleblower policy to allow Nigerians to report suspected irregularities confidentially. The recruitment process is designed to be fair, transparent, and merit-based, with a focus on building a credible police force that meets the aspirations of the nation.
