DSS Neutralizes Bandit Kingpin Aiki in Katsina Operation

An intelligence-led operation conducted by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Bakori local government area of Katsina State resulted in the deaths of over 60 suspected bandits, including the notorious kingpin Idi Abasu Aiki. Aiki was believed to be responsible for numerous attacks in Katsina and Zamfara states.

The operation, which involved members of the Katsina State Community Vigilantes and specially-trained hunters, was a response to a reprisal mission by Aiki and over 200 armed bandits who attacked Guga village. The DSS had prior intelligence about the bandits' plans, leading to a successful ambush.

The operation resulted in the neutralization of Aiki and 14 of his top commanders, with over 60 bandits not surviving the encounter. Additionally, a clearance operation was conducted to recover weapons and items left behind by the bandits.
