DSS Neutralizes Bandit Kingpin Idi Abasu Aiki in Katsina

An intelligence-led operation conducted by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Bakori Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State resulted in the deaths of over 60 suspected bandits, including the notorious kingpin Idi Abasu Aiki. Aiki was believed to be responsible for numerous attacks in the Northwest states of Katsina and Zamfara.

The operation was supported by members of the Katsina State Community Vigilantes and specially-trained hunters, four of whom were killed during the confrontation. Sources indicated that over 200 armed bandits, led by Aiki, attacked Guga village, aiming to retaliate against communities supporting the Community Watch Corps.

However, the DSS had prepared a strategic response, leading to the bandits walking into a trap. The operation resulted in the deaths of Aiki and 14 of his top commanders, with a subsequent clearance operation recovering weapons and other items left behind by the bandits.
