DStv to Launch New Streaming Packages on Sept 17, 2026

DStv is preparing to launch a new lineup of streaming packages in South Africa on September 17, 2026, following Canal+'s acquisition of MultiChoice. The restructuring was revealed after details were inadvertently published on DStv's website.

The new offerings include five packages: Starter (R99/month, 85 channels), Select (R299/month, 100 channels), Sports (R399/month, 115 channels), Movies & Series (R500/month, 115 channels), and Premium (R799/month, 130 channels). The Sports package will feature Premier League, UEFA content, T20 cricket, local rugby, UFC, and WWE, but will exclude several major events like Formula 1 and ATP tennis, which remain exclusive to the Premium tier.

Notably, the changes apply only to streaming services, with no immediate updates for satellite decoder users. This move aligns with Canal+'s strategy to provide more flexible viewing options as traditional pay-TV faces increasing competition.

Kemi Omotosho, CEO of MultiChoice Nigeria, emphasized that decisions affecting the Nigerian market will continue to be made locally.
