D’Tigress End World Cup Journey with Loss to France

The D’Tigress of Nigeria ended their 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup campaign on September 7, 2023, with a heavy defeat to France, losing 111-56 in their final Group B match held in Berlin, Germany. This loss marked Nigeria's third defeat in as many games, confirming their elimination from the tournament.

Earlier in the competition, D’Tigress lost to South Korea with a score of 99-81 and to Hungary at 71-67. France dominated the match from the outset, leading 31-13 at the end of the first quarter.

They continued to exploit Nigeria’s defensive weaknesses, extending their lead to 65-26 by halftime. The gap widened further in the third quarter, with France leading 95-36.

Although Nigeria showed slight improvement in the final quarter, scoring 17 points, they ultimately suffered a 55-point defeat. Throughout the game, Nigeria struggled offensively, managing only 13 points in each of the first three quarters.
