EATL and NUPRC Launch Nigeria's First Calibration Facility

EATL, in collaboration with the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), has inaugurated Nigeria's first gravimetric flow meter calibration facility in Eket, Akwa Ibom State. This facility represents a significant milestone in Nigeria's efforts to enhance transparency and accountability in crude oil measurement.

The project aims to improve the accuracy of crude oil measurements, thereby reducing revenue leakage and disputes over oil figures. Previously, the Nigerian oil sector relied on foreign laboratories for calibration, incurring costs and delays.

The new facility, built under strict oversight from NUPRC, is expected to create jobs, develop local technical expertise, and retain value within the domestic economy. It features advanced technology, including zero-touch automation and tamper-proof audit trails, to minimize human error and downtime.

The initiative is part of Nigeria's broader strategy to strengthen revenue management and enhance investor confidence in the oil sector.
