Ebonyi Government Accuses PDP of Creating Rift

The Ebonyi State government has accused the People's Democratic Party (PDP) of trying to incite conflict between Governor Francis Nwifuru and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike. This accusation was made following a rally held on June 15, 2026, at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium in Abakaliki, where Nwifuru endorsed Bola Tinubu's candidacy for the APC.

The government described the PDP's actions as desperate attempts to create a rift and score political points ahead of the 2027 general elections. In a statement issued by Ikeuwa Omebeh, the government clarified that Nwifuru's comments were metaphorical and not threats against Wike.

The statement urged the PDP to refrain from spreading false narratives and emphasized the cordial relationship and mutual respect between Nwifuru and Wike. The government criticized the PDP for its internal crises and lack of moral authority to challenge Nwifuru's administration.
