Ebonyi State Denies Rift Between Nwifuru and Wike

The Ebonyi State government has dismissed claims of a rift between Governor Francis Nwifuru and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, attributing the rumors to the People's Democratic Party (PDP). Ikeuwa Omebeh, a spokesperson for the state government, clarified that Nwifuru's remarks were misinterpreted and emphasized that both leaders enjoy a cordial relationship based on mutual respect.

The statement followed Nwifuru's comments during a rally endorsing Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, scheduled for June 15 at the Ngele Oruta Township Stadium in Abakaliki. Omebeh warned that attempts by PDP factions to create a false impression of discord would not succeed and urged the party to focus on resolving its internal challenges.

He also stated that the PDP's faction in Ebonyi is nearly non-existent and poses no threat to the ruling All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections. The government cautioned against spreading false information and warned that individuals doing so would face legal consequences.
