Nwifuru Urges Izhi Clan to Preserve Ancestral Lands

During the Ojiji Izhi New Yam Festival at Amagu, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru warned the Izhi Nnodo clan against the sale of ancestral lands and burial grounds, stating that such actions could make them "strangers in their own homeland." He expressed concern over families selling inherited properties, including graves, and highlighted the need to respect the sacrifices of ancestors. Nwifuru called on elders, traditional rulers, and religious leaders to protect the clan's heritage and educate the youth on the distinction between culture and religion.

He also cautioned against using politics to sever ancestral ties and criticized the use of social media for political blackmail. Nwifuru defended his administration's achievements, noting the completion of over 500 kilometers of roads across 13 local government areas and urged support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 elections to continue the development agenda.

Edward Nkwegu, the festival chairman, lamented the loss of traditional values among the youth due to Western influences.
