Ebonyi State Repatriates 28 Trafficked Children from Anambra

Ebonyi State has successfully repatriated 28 trafficked children from Anambra State. The children were received by Barrister Felicia Nwankpuma, who is the head of the Ebonyi State Commission for Women Affairs and Social Development.

The repatriation followed notifications from Anambra State regarding the presence of trafficked children from Ebonyi. Nwankpuma emphasized the need for parents to avoid subjecting their children to child labor, despite the availability of free compulsory education in Ebonyi State.

The children, who were found not enrolled in school, were returned from two local government areas: 24 from Ikwo Local Government Area and four from Ezza South Local Government Area. Nwankpuma commended the Anambra State government for alerting Ebonyi authorities, which facilitated the children's return.

The children are currently in a remand home in Ugwuachara, where they will be rehabilitated and reintegrated into their families.
