Kebbi State Reunites Trafficked Children with Families

The Kebbi state government successfully reunited five trafficked children with their families, following their rescue by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP). This event took place at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi on Monday evening, where Deputy Governor Sen. Umar Abubakar Tafida represented Governor Nasir Idris.

Sen. Tafida issued a stern warning to parents, stating that those who consent to trafficking their children for monetary gain would be punished according to Nigerian law. He highlighted that issues such as poverty and hunger do not justify the exploitation of children.

Additionally, he mentioned the Kebbi government's commitment to rehabilitating deportees received by NAPTIP after necessary processes are completed. Misbahu Iyan Kaura, the Kebbi state NAPTIP commander, reported that the children were rescued in Gusau while being transported to Edo State.
