EBSHIA Beneficiaries Back Nwifuru for Second Term

On March 2023, over 28,000 beneficiaries of the Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency (EBSHIA) gathered at the Christian Ecumenical Centre in Abakaliki to endorse Governor Francis Nwifuru for a second term in office. Dr.

Divin Igw, the Executive Secretary of EBSHIA, stated that Governor Nwifuru has redefined access to healthcare, ensuring quality medical services are no longer reserved for the privileged few. He attributed the growth and sustainability of the health sector to government investments, which have increased public confidence in the state's healthcare delivery system.

Dr. Igw emphasized that healthcare is a fundamental right for every citizen and noted that the health insurance scheme has become one of the strongest pillars of the state's healthcare system, providing financial protection and improving access to medical services for vulnerable households.

He reported that from 2023 to 2026, the agency recorded a total of 394,387 visits and 478,607 services utilized across accredited health facilities. Stanlei Okoro Emegha, the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), commended the agency for effectively implementing government health policies.
