Edo Commissioner Claims Residents Harbor Kidnappers

Edo State Commissioner for Public Safety, Ebea, disclosed during a monthly briefing that certain residents are allegedly harboring kidnappers and herdsmen who are contributing to the state's security challenges. This revelation comes as the state grapples with rising incidents of kidnapping and violent crime.

Ebea stated that individuals in the state are exploiting the security situation by assisting herdsmen in kidnapping operations. In response to these security threats, the Edo State Government is deploying 500 forest guards, currently undergoing training, to tackle insecurity.

The federal government has also approved an additional 500 personnel, bringing the total to 1,000. Governor Mondai Okpebholo has engaged 300 members of the Edo State Security Corps across 18 local government areas, totaling 5,400 personnel aimed at strengthening the state's security architecture.
