Edo Government Bans Davido from Performing in State

The Edo State government, represented by Governor Monday Okpebholo's Senior Special Assistant on Digital Media, Apostle Kassy Chukwu, has announced that Nigerian singer Davido will not be permitted to perform in Edo State for the remainder of Okpebholo's tenure. This decision follows a public dispute between the singer and the governor, which intensified after Davido made comments perceived as disrespectful towards Okpebholo and his family.

Chukwu warned that Davido could face a hostile reception from residents if he attempts to return to the state, including at the airport. The conflict originated during the lead-up to the August 15 Osun State governorship election, where Okpebholo criticized Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is Davido's uncle.

In response, Davido shared what appeared to be Okpebholo's WAEC result on social media, which he later defended, stating he aimed to inform Osun residents about the governor's academic background. Chukwu also questioned the authenticity of the document shared by Davido.
