Davido Claims Soldiers Block His Entry to Osun Election

On August 14, 2023, David Adeleke, known as Davido, alleged via his verified X account that soldiers were attempting to stop him from entering Osun State as voters participated in the governorship election on August 15. He emphasized his constitutional right to free movement and expressed his intention to return to Osun after being abroad for a concert.

Davido's planned arrival was significant due to his active support for his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who was seeking re-election. His allegations emerged amid heightened security measures, including a movement restriction announced by the Nigeria Police Force, effective from midnight on August 14 until 6 PM on August 15, aimed at ensuring a peaceful election.

Critics, including former presidential media aide Bashir Ahmad, dismissed Davido's claims as dramatic, arguing that his celebrity status does not exempt him from security protocols.
