Davido Claims Soldiers Blocking His Entry to Osun State

On Saturday, Davido, the nephew of Osun State's incumbent governor Ademola Adeleke, claimed via his verified X account that soldiers were trying to stop him from entering Osun State. He asserted that every Nigerian has the right to freedom of movement.

This statement came in light of movement restrictions imposed by the Nigeria Police Force, which announced that movement would be limited from 12:00 midnight on Friday, August 14, until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, as part of security measures for the governorship election. Governor Ademola Adeleke, representing the Accord Party, is seeking a second term against several challengers, including Bola Oyebamiji from the All Progressives Congress.

Social media reactions to Davido's post included comments questioning his awareness of the announced movement restrictions, with some users advising him to remain in Lagos. Former presidential media aide Bashir Ahmad labeled Davido's claim as "dramatic," emphasizing that the movement restrictions were standard security measures during elections.
