Edo Government Acts to Resolve Ossiomo Power Disruption

The Edo State government has initiated efforts to resolve the ongoing disruption of operations at Ossiomo Power Company, which has significantly impacted electricity supply to government facilities, businesses, and communities throughout the state. Hon. Paul Usenbo, the Commissioner for Power, expressed concern over the negative effects of the shutdown on residents and economic activities.

He noted that Ossiomo Power Company had previously provided electricity to various government establishments, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and industries before the disruption occurred. Usenbo mentioned an attempt by the company to resume power generation in August 2026, which was reportedly halted by youths at the Ologbo facility.

He underscored the importance of safeguarding critical power infrastructure and stated that the government would facilitate dialogue among involved parties to respect the law and contractual obligations. Usenbo clarified that the state government does not own or operate Ossiomo Power Company and cannot impose settlements in commercial disputes.
