Edo State Plants Over 5,000 Trees for a Greener Environment

The Edo State Government has successfully planted over 5,000 trees across various locations in the state to promote a clean and green environment. Pastor Stanley Ighodaro, the Managing Director of the Edo State Parks and Gardens Agency, disclosed this information during a press interaction in Benin City on Wednesday.

He mentioned the establishment of a tree nursery aimed at reducing costs associated with purchasing plants from vendors. Additionally, tree planting advocacy clubs have been created in schools to educate students about the importance of maintaining a clean environment.

Ighodaro noted that upon his appointment by Governor Monday Okpebholo, he was tasked with beautifying the state, particularly addressing the lack of trees in city centers. The agency plans to plant more trees in Benin City and Ekpoma later in the week, utilizing plants sourced from the nursery.

Furthermore, the agency is collaborating with the private sector, including banks and companies, to support tree planting initiatives in Edo State.
