Edo State Partners with NNPC to Establish 10,000bpd Refinery for Job Creation and Industrial Growth

Edo State has collaborated with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to set up a 10,000 barrels per day refinery. The refinery is planned to be located across the Oredo and Orhionmwon local government areas of the state.

Once operational within 24 to 36 months, it is anticipated to produce around 20 truckloads of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and 10 truckloads of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) to serve Edo State and its neighboring regions. Governor Mondai Okpebholo, speaking after a visit from NNPC's Executive Vice President Downstream, Alhaji Mumuni Dagazia, expressed commitment to job creation and poverty reduction through this project.

NNPC's team assured full support for the success of the refinery. Alhaji Mumuni Dagazia highlighted the refinery's focus on job creation and industrial growth in Edo State.

NNPC's Chief Downstream Investment Officer, Ikedichi Dick Nwoke, explained that upon completion, the refinery would position Edo State as a major energy and industrial hub in the South-South region.
