One Dead, Houses Burned in Edo Girlfriend Dispute

On June 12, a violent dispute over a girlfriend occurred in the Ogutke community of Okpella, Etsako East Local Government, Edo State. The altercation between two youths escalated into a fight, during which one youth inflicted machete cuts on the other, leading to the victim being rushed to the hospital.

Unfortunately, the victim was later confirmed dead by a doctor. Following the incident, the deceased's associates mobilized and armed themselves, resulting in a retaliatory attack where several houses were set ablaze.

Reports indicate that four houses were destroyed during this reprisal. The Edo State Police Command confirmed that three suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The spokesperson for the command, Eno Ikoedem, verified the occurrence of the violence and the subsequent destruction of property in the area.
